65 million Europeans already smoked of the cannabis and 60 % of the people who attend the discotheques in France, Italy and Great Britain already took cocaine. Such are the worrying results of the last annual report of the Observatory of drugs and drug-addiction (OEDT) presented Thursday November 23, 2006, at the European Parliament (http://www.touteleurope.fr source) What can appear inquitant, it is that nor alcohol, the Tobacco or the drugs are not mentioned in these reports/ratios (thus regarded as drugs) Tobacco, alcohol or overweight: more half of the population is concerned with at least one of these "risks". The three compounds touch less than 1 % of the French but in 90 % of the cases, they are men. Beyond 75 years, these risks strongly decrease: perhaps an effect of wisdom but especially of the surmortality. Contrary to a generally accepted idea, more than the level of incomes, it is the level of studies which has the most influence in these fields: with other comparable characteristics, the graduates are rather thin, smoke less but are larger alcohol consumers than the not-graduates. Under the combined effect of a greater sedentariness and food imbalances, the overweight increases constantly up to 75 years and is declared increasingly young person. Nicotinism, abuses alcohol or overweights result not only in one health objectively less good but also affect perception that one has some, independently of the declared problems.
